EFFECTS OF AEROBIC TRAINING UPON FLEXIBILITY OF SHOULDER, CORE BACK AND LOWER BACK AMONG OVERWEIGHT COLLEGE STUDENTS
Abstract
Maintaining a healthy level of fitness is a blessing. It is the quality that permits one to perform routine, repeated tasks with ease and proficiency. Flexibility is an essential component in maintaining a healthy level of fitness. The major goal of this study was to determine how aerobic training altered the flexibility of the lower back, core back, and shoulders in overweight college students. The PAR-Q was used to select 25 study participants, aged 20 to 24. Prior to the test, we collected data on the dependent variables using the sit-and-reach, back-extension, and shoulder-elevation tests. The participants engaged in aerobic activity during ten weeks, with three sessions each week on alternate days. The dependent variables' post-treatment data were collected in the same manner as the pre-treatment data. The subjects' pre- and post-data sets were presented and tabulated. The data was examined with specifically the mean, standard deviation, and paired sample t-test. The 0.05 level of significance was fixed. The data analysis and findings show that aerobic training considerably improves the flexibility of the shoulders, core back, and lower back in overweight college students. Students who are overweight should engage in aerobic workouts to improve their overall health and fitness.
