COMPARATIVE EFFECTS OF HATHA YOGA AND AEROBIC EXERCISES UPON THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF HIP, THIGH AND CALF AMONG THE OVERWEIGHT COLLEGE STUDENTS
Abstract
Engaging in fitness for health purposes is a boon. .It is the trait that allows an individual to do daily responsibilities effectively and proficiently. Excess weight is a determinant that affects an individual's health-related fitness level. The primary aim of the current study was to assess the effects of hatha yoga and aerobic exercises on the circumferences of the hip, thigh, and calf in overweight college students. Two groups each of twenty-five volunteers, aged 20 to 24, were selected for the study using the PAR-Q. The pre-test data for the dependent variables was gathered using tape measurement. Participants in the hatha and aerobic groups underwent treatment for 10 weeks, engaging in three days each of yoga and aerobic training weekly. Subsequent to treatment, post-test data on dependent variables were gathered utilizing the identical methods employed for the pre-test data. The pre- and post-collection data for each group of people were aggregated. The data were examined, which encompassed the independent samples t-test, paired samples t-test, and mean calculations. A constant significance level of 0.05 was employed. Both training programs significant effects on the circumferences of the hip, thigh, and calf. Moreover, in overweight college students aged 20 to 24, a 10-week regimen of aerobic activities shown superior effects on hip, thigh, and calf circumference compared to hatha yoga. Overweight students ought take participate in aerobic and hatha yoga exercises to enhance their overall health.
